Last Days of Schoolies 2013

It's has been so quick with our friends of 2013 , we don't believe that the two weeks have passed.
However the team has completed it's activities as planed like building House 10, visiting other Homes, visiting Slums, Prison ,playing football, going rafting Dinning with V.O.H staff and other activities.
The last two days were so joyful on both the Schoolies and Village of Hope as they had a football match between the Ugandan Builders and it ended in favor of the Schoolies. On Tuesday ,it was a farewell party at Village of Hope where the Children enjoyed the marvelous amazing preparations of Bouncing Castles, children's motor bikes, face painting  snacks and drinks lots of sweets dancing , cultural music, presentation from the Schoolies, the many speeches and many other activities. This was i think the best day in the lives of many children as others called it Christmas because of the enjoyment.
We again thank the Schoolies for the Great time, love and joy extended to us for those two weeks may the good Lord bless you all ,safe journey back  and extend our Love out there.
Kind regards

Schoolies' Visit to The Slums

Hi all our lovely lovers of Village of Hope blog, here are some the activities The Schoolies are doing to impact community here in Uganda'.
On Wednesday, it was half day of building then after lunch  time the team had to head to Kikaramoja Slum to visit families of some the Children on Hope Builders' programme. It was a bit exciting but a trying moment for some team members as they listened  to stories about poverty alcohol and substance abuses poor healthy of guardians and the children themselves before they joined Village of Hope.
We visited seven families ....Phiona's, Brend's Mark's ,Richard's, Jane's Joan's  and Grace and Dorren's families. The guardians  and other people in the surrounding community were all happy to recieve the Bazungu (Whites) in their community.Prayers were held in each of the families visited and we asked the Lord grace upon the families and  the cycle of poverty getting broken.
Today , building was also half day  and House 10 is rising up at higher rate, then in the evening the team had a football match with the Village Team and it ended in favor of Village of Hope.
To God be The Glory

Day 4 of the Schoolies In Uganda (VOH)

Today has been pretty a busy day for the Schoolies Team and i , as early as 8:55 am they came for me at the Village to take them in the different schools where the Village children study from.
We started with Pre-School (Hope Land) and interacted with the children and it was really a wonderful experience to be with the little ones at their School.
After Pre-School we headed to Jinja Christian School where the Acting Head teacher Tr Jonathan took us around in the different classes and The Schoolies were so happy to share with the children, looking through their work and reading bible stories. We peeped at Joy primary but the children had finished thier end of year papers and they were home.
From Jinja Christian Sch, we went to Hope Community High School where only Senior Six students were at School because others finished their papers a week back. The Director Robert K gave a brief history of the School and how donations from Australia have helped them excel especially in Science subjects. One thing which suprised the Team was that in most Ugandan Schools, the Teacher: learners' ratio can be over 1:100 which here we see  as something very normal. Some of the Team members donated books to the school and promised to be in touch with the school.
After the Schoolies' tour they headed back to Suubi house for lunch and then to the Village to build house 10 after lunch. We are really for this Team's work.
Another activity of the day was to give some clothes (2bags)  from our orange container to Miracle orphanage whose dormitories caught fire and their belongings got burnt, this we did me and Robert K.
That was our day..... view this in photos

From the Airport we headed our way to Jinja through the Capital city Kampala then into the green forests of Mabira and finally to Suubi house where the Team couldnot rest without visiting the Village. After we went to the Village and we were welcomed by the children with their African  sweet smiles and the team interrcted with the children and the mothers for about an hour and then headed to suubi house for dinner.
On Tuesday this week building  house 10 started  and 3 courses were finished whereas today building was half day as they went for shopping in the after noon.

Villlage of Hope Saying Hi.....

Hi to all our people ,
I believe this post find you fine and happy wherever you are. Here at Village of Hope we are fine and going on with our daily routines ..... The children, mothers, admnistrators and all its occupants send their greetings
through this post. The situation is generally okay at the Village, everything is going on well, only that we had a few cases of malaria (Phiona,& Mariam ) but they have now recovered. We thank God for our lovely Nurse Mama Jesca...she is so caring and doing a good job at the Village.
The trees which Team 14 planted are all in good condition ..they have grown in sature steadily as you will see Andrew's tree in the photos attached.
Last week on wednesday 9 , it was Uganda's 51 independence anniversarry and it was a public holiday  here at the Village we watched a live broadcast on a local TV channel. It was amazing seeing the children attentive which is a sign of being patriotic to their Country.
As the grown up children were busy watching , the little children were busy thinking about CHRISTMAS as they see it drawing nearer...they are so anxious to see it happen as they always rehearse the way they will put on, walk to church the food they will eat and entertainment they will enjoy. They always ask me whether i will have christmas with them or go to my family members of which they dont want. They really dont want to miss me Uncle Johann and Uncle Edward  on christmas and they blag that for them they have seen Uncle Johann and for i have not seen him.

  GOD Bless you
Ivan
