Team 25 Day 5

Hope Builders blog    -  Thursday
A lovely devotion and discussion around the topic ‘suffering’, so suitable though not exclusive, to Uganda, followed our beautiful breakfast of ‘half cakes’, yum, yum, yum. Some ate it with avocado, and others with butter and jam. It is actually a sweet small deep-fried cake. As with every meal since we’ve been here, followed by the sweetest, hugest chunks of pineapple.
This morning we went to visit Youth Support Uganda where Luke and Agnes head up a team of workers who train young vulnerable ladies and mothers to become tailors. It is a one-year course, and once the ladies qualify, they receive a sewing machine which allows them to start their own little business venture and thus help them survive. These beautiful ladies are also learning about Jesus and do a ‘Wise choices for life’ course, as well as receive trauma counselling. These courses allow these ladies to go back into their communities with dignity.  Please pray for these ladies as they seek opportunities soon after their course is completed in 2 weeks.
A lovely lunch back at Suubi House, then to visit the women’s prison in Jinja, with 2 local men who are at the YWAM base who did the interpreting, and a regular Wilma, who is from Holland. There were up to 100 women of varying ages, some very young, some with babies (who would have been born while their mother was in prison), and some quite elderly women. They were dressed in bright yellow uniform which just added to their beauty. Some had just arrived, others had been there for up to 50 years.
We were all very moved by their worship. The ladies did different items of singing and dance. They have a capacity to Praise God despite their circumstances.  It was truly inspirational and edifying.  They serve the same and only God we serve, and their love for Him is visible.
We each had the opportunity to speak to a group of ladies, ask them questions, they asked us questions, and really, all they wanted was for us to pray for them.  They are incredibly rich in Jesus!
Just prior to our leaving them, we were able to view and buy from a beautiful display of their crafts.
What a special gift we are given each time we speak to these most precious Ugandans people.
Today Josh made it very well known that he was single, leaving several Ugandan girls very hopeful.  Go Josh!

Some pics below.. unfortunately we couldn't take any pics in the prison, so you'll have to imagine...
