Day 4

Oleotenya it is now day 4, and you guessed it; we had another breakfast on the roof, but this time we had deep fried goodness to start the day.
8:30 rolled around and it was time to start another day full of building. Corey showed his initiative and organised a truck to lug the bricks up from the shed down the road instead of using the rickety wheelbarrows to cart them up, starting a productive day on the job! The brick chain started and before we knew it, we'd laid three courses of bricks.
The renderers powered through the stink of the a la natural African render, completed the guard house and finished off the new houses. The painters also smashed it out and got many doors painted and can't wait to finish the next coat off tomorrow.
Today a crew raided the giant storage container and provided clothes and essentials for all the new kids in the village, which Anne-Marie and Renay had so kindly quality controlled before giving them out. It was great to see the kids faces light up when they received a new set of clothes, the little girls curtseying in their very own dresses. The bags full of games and books brought over from Australia were delivered to Jinja Christian School and the children are keen to read and play.
Today Chris learned a very important lesson on the trek back to the Village of Hope. Do not hand out a small bag of lollies to a school full of children! When the rest of the school caught on, a mob craving sugar ran and all wanted to be his new best friend. It didn't end with many happy children.
We had some fresh salad rolls to top our energy and get us back to the building! The African sun was out and blistering and us Mzungus are starting to turn a little pink; but that didn't stop us and each team worked with the locals and kept on building with a little bit of learning Lugandan in between. We'd like to think we're becoming real Africans now.
Again, for a visual impression of our day, check out the photos below!!

Great work Corey... also good to see the clothes being distributed. Glad to hear all is going well - watch out for that pink skin :) We are praying for you all and we trust that God will continue to bless you and the work that you are doing.
