Team 25 Day 3

Team 25 Day 3...

After a very refreshing sleep in our first night at our new home, the team was ready for another big day. After the fantastic breakfast which consisted of rolex (egg omelette combined with a pancake), we set out for a trip to home of hope. We all piled in to the minivan for the short trip, Josh scoring the front seat. After some good driving from Andrew to miss the potholes and other drivers, we drove into Home of Hope and being greeted by a man named Jeff who loves a bit of humanly contact. The home of hope is supported greatly by Hopebuilders and houses Ugandan kids with disability’s like cerebral palsy, autism and hydrocephalus’s. These kids would normally have no hope in Uganda as these kids are such a burden on the family. But there is hope in the home of hope. Edith, the founder and director of home of hope showed the team around the home and shared her own heart twisting story of bravery leading up to forming home of hope. The team was then able to play and bring some big smiles to the kids’ faces by playing with toys, clapping and taking them on walks out in the shinning sun. The time at Home of Hope had its effect on the team, there were some tears, there were some confronting moments but most importantly, there were lots of smiles! The team could all agree that the mothers and carers are so inspirational, and that God is giving them the grace to do such an amazing job.
After waving out goodbyes from the Home of Hope, we left to go explore the main city of Jinja. Most of the time in the city was taken up by eating; Josh, Shay, Monique and Alishia going burgers and the rest of the team going for the fruit bowls. After the fantastic team meal, we walked down the main streets, looking at the little shops with all the colourful Ugandan clothing to the wonderful paintings. A couple of the team members got some bargains; Piper getting some thongs and Shay getting a couple of colourful dresses. The team was picked up again and headed for home, all reflecting and praying for the day that had been and days to come over another fanatically cooked dinner.

As usual, check out the pics below for a small impression...
